This compulsory course/seminar is intended for students in the fifth specialisation, Music Education. It reviews and applies general principles for organising and writing academic work in education and music education. It also focuses on literature reviews and the development of a literature-based study as part of an academic paper.

Topics include historical, theoretical and research approaches to music education and music teaching. Practical exercises in searching for bibliographic sources are organised in collaboration with the School of Philosophy Library and the Lilian Voudouri Music Library of Greece. Open-access digital tools and applications for finding, organising, studying and citing literature, as well as preparing literature reviews, are also introduced.
