Music Pedagogy and Teaching Ι

This course covers a broad spectrum of concepts related to the science of music teaching. The theories of learning and teaching and their connection to the teaching and learning of music are at the core of this course. Music learning and teaching are approached both historically and through a detailed reference to contemporary trends and perspectives. Special attention is given to the role of the music teacher in the classroom, as well as the detailed curriculum and the position of music within it in our country. Finally, the design and organization of a music lesson are analyzed through specific practical examples. Group visits for sample teaching sessions in selected schools are scheduled whenever possible.

Music Pedagogy and Teaching ΙΙ

Throughout the semester, the teaching methods of music from antiquity to the present day are described, with particular emphasis on the most prevalent approaches to music teaching in the 20th century. The teaching methods of Kodaly, Orff, and Dalcroze are described in detail and accompanied by practical examples and activities. Specifically, the theoretical and scientific basis of each method/system is analyzed, and its application is presented through activities and music lesson planning. Group visits for sample teaching sessions in selected schools are scheduled whenever possible.
