STEAM education and emerging technologies in music education (2024-25)

The course integrates the principles of STEAM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) and emerging technologies, focusing on enhancing the music learning process and practice through interdisciplinary approaches. The thematic units include classroom music production practices, the design of Maker Movement instructional scenarios, and the use of emerging technologies. Specifically, the course explores the integration of creative coding, the utilization of virtual, augmented, and mixed reality, the implementation of interactive interfaces, and the incorporation of artificial intelligence elements in music education. Teaching methods include lectures, hands-on lab exercises, group projects, and interactive activities. Students will be assessed through written assignments, group presentations, and a final project, which will involve the design, development, and evaluation of a comprehensive digital STEAM educational music resource, leveraging emerging technologies.
